The LaserLyte Carbine Green Laser product concept is a great idea - copied somewhat from the Insight Technologies Carbine Visble Laser. I had been looking at Insight's product for awhile but wasn't sure if I wanted to invest in a red laser, especially for the price. This product has a similar design to the Insight version, has a green laser (better visibility), is much lower priced than the Insight model, and has much better adjustment mechanisms than many of the 'cheap' green lasers on the market. I was sold and ordered one immediately - with the idea that if this green laser worked, I would order several.
After receiving the product promptly from the seller (Outdoor Bunker), I took it to the range to try it out. Similar to the previous reviewer, my CVL did not do well when used in real life. While the laser did not totally die, it was intermittently on and off. I even changed batteries and found that I had to play with the battery cap to get the thing to stay on (would not come on if the battery cap was tightened fully). However, once I got the unit to stay on, it would go off again after the rifle recoiled a few times. Not a good thing to have happen with a laser sight that you may need to depend on at some point in time.
I am hopeful that this is just a defective unit, as I like the product concept a lot. If I could get a working one that could withstand the shock of normal AR15 use, I probably would be satisfied with this product. It has some good features - it just needs to WORK. Let's see how Outdoor Bunker handles the exchange - I will keep you posted.
UPDATE: Outdoor Bunker immediately pointed me to manufacturer for exchange - not sure why they did that on a brand new product that had problems out of the box, but I am dissapointed that they didn't offer to try to solve the problem initially. That's a first for me from an Amazon Seller - most will exchange the product within a set amount of time (in this case 3 days!). LaserLyte seemed more concerned than Outdoor Bunker about my problems and is shipping me a new one. Let's see if the replacement works better - I will provide an update once I get it.

Soon after installing this sight on my gun and getting it roughly lined up with my iron sights I took it out to the range to have a little fun. The dot did great, it never grew too large as I got it down to 100yds. Downside, and the only side in my opinion, is that this laser system died on me. Now I'm not talking about the batteries or even that I had this thing on a Lapua. After 200 rounds on my M&P15-22 it stopped working. That's right, 200 rounds of 22 LR and it was already shot to ****. Thanks Laserlyte for a stellar product!

Unlike the other two reviewers mine has worked flawlessly with more than 500 rounds(M855 no 55gr tumblers) and counting thru each rifle. The black version saw about 150rds on the S&W before I put a Troy FDE Battle-Rail on it and got the tan K15 to match up and the SIG inherited the black. Though I had severe problems with LaserLytes RSL for the Ruger SR9c (the laser came on whether I wanted it to or not every time I squeezed off a round) the K15s I have must be versions that addressed these issues. I'll upload video from the range of both guns and their respective K15s as soon as possible. And I'll look at all serializing numbers to see if they are infact a revised version.
